Petco Love invests $750,000 in lifesaving work of Dog Is My CoPilot

Petco Love, a national nonprofit working to lead and inspire change for animals, is partnering with Dog Is My CoPilot and shelters across the country for a lifesaving shelter pet transport.

Dog Is My CoPilot has received a $750,000 grant investment from the national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for pets. To celebrate, more than 50 dogs and cats were airlifted from El Paso, Texas, to rescues in Wyoming and Oregon, where they will be adopted into loving homes.

Thank you Petco Love!

Thank you Petco Love for all your love and support in supporting our mission to save shelter pets nationwide. On behalf of the Dog Is My CoPilot team and our shelter and rescue partners, we are so grateful for our lifesaving partnership.

Dog Is My CoPilot partnered with the Animal Adoption Center in Jackson, Wyoming, which received seven small dogs on this flight. All of them already have foster and adoptive homes waiting. The rest of the pets on board were flown to Portland, Oregon. This flight celebrated the $750,000 grant investment from Petco Love to support Dog Is My CoPilot’s ongoing lifesaving work.

Meet Dove

Powered by Petco Love, the Big Dog flew over the Tetons and inside the airplane were 65 furry passengers that got the ‘Golden Ticket’ to Jackson Hole! One special passenger was a dog named Dove. Dove found herself at the El Paso Animal Shelter (EPAS), after being abandoned with her puppies. EPAS is a shelter in Texas that has over 500 dogs in their care everyday, many of their kennels are tripled up with dogs. Dove was scared and timid in her kennel looking away and trying to hide when people walked by her kennel. After weeks of waiting, her time was up. But her fate changed when a family here in Jackson saved her life! The rest is history since arriving in Jackson, as Dove is living the good life thanks to our amazing community of animal lovers!

“After tremendous loss, Dove has brought joy and healing back into our lives. Dove arrived in Wyoming literally on a Wing and a Prayer. This terrified little heeler I knew almost nothing about was pulled from EPAS on a gut feeling and undeniable synergy. Dove, who was paralyzed with fear and wouldn’t leave her kennel for more than potty breaks, is a blossoming youngster. She is showing us her true colors daily and has decided that the little kids in the house will always have food falling that needs to be cleaned up after regularly. We have also learned that if our shoes are missing they have been collected in one of her caches under a couch. Not chewed on, just hoarded. Dove now explores the woods, rivers and trails of Wyoming. When she isn’t zoomy’ing around with her dog friends her favorite place is wherever mom is. But the couch is a close second. We found each other at a time where we both really needed a friend. So don’t pass by the shy and cowering, they may just surprise you”
